Spectran Group was engaged by Glenorchy City Council to construct the GASP Boardwalk across Montrose Bay, creating a key section of the Glenorchy to Austins Ferry Shared Path (GASP). The project involved the construction of approximately 500 metres of over-water boardwalk together with connecting land-based pathways, delivering an iconic recreational asset for the local community.

Scope of Works

  • Construction of approximately 500 metres of pile-supported boardwalk across Montrose Bay.
  • Installation of deep foundation piles, with some driven up to 36 metres to achieve required ground bearing capacity.
  • Design and installation of pile headers to accommodate the curved structural steel bearers.
  • Installation of custom-fabricated, painted steel framing with treated pine decking.
  • Construction and installation of bespoke curved timber balustrades and handrails to complement the boardwalk alignment.
  • Construction of land-based pathway sections using coloured concrete finishes to seamlessly integrate with the timber boardwalk.
