New Town Netball & Bowls Upgrade

Spectran Group was engaged by Hobart City Council to transform a disused bowling green at the STNA/Buckingham Bowls Club into modern netball facilities. The project included the construction of new competition courts, stormwater infrastructure, public amenities, and associated civil works, while maintaining safe access for existing community groups throughout construction.

Working within an active sporting precinct, Spectran successfully coordinated construction activities to minimise disruption to neighbouring facilities, including the Tae Kwon Do club, ensuring uninterrupted public access and ongoing operations.

Scope of Works

  • Demolition and site preparation of the existing bowling green.
  • Construction of new competition-standard netball courts.
  • Installation of new stormwater drainage infrastructure.
  • Construction of player and spectator shelters adjacent to Bowling Green No. 2.
  • Civil works, pavement construction, and associated landscaping.
  • Coordination of safe pedestrian and user access throughout the construction period.
  • Delivery of security fencing and architectural finishes to meet Council’s design requirements.

The New Town Netball & Bowls Upgrade demonstrates Spectran Group’s ability to deliver high-quality community infrastructure within live public environments, balancing stakeholder needs with safety, functionality, and outstanding project outcomes.
