Queens Walk Bridge Strengthening

Spectran Group delivered specialist bridge strengthening and concrete remediation works at Queens Walk Bridge in New Town for the City of Hobart.

The project involved extensive remediation and precision preparation of the existing concrete bridge soffit to enable installation of a carbon fibre laminate strengthening system. The existing underside of the bridge presented a particularly rough and uneven substrate, requiring detailed grinding, repair and finishing to meet the stringent surface requirements of the project specification.

A key achievement was the team’s ability to achieve surface tolerances as tight as 1mm in critical areas while working overhead in challenging conditions. The quality and precision of the preparation works resulted in successful sign-off for installation of the carbon fibre strengthening system, marking a significant milestone in the bridge strengthening program.

Scope of Works

• Concrete remediation and preparation of the existing bridge soffit.
• Precision grinding and surface correction to achieve tolerances as tight as 1mm in critical areas.
